Bisma Ahmed is an aspiring fashion designer born in Pakistan, and raised in Southern Africa. Currently based in Dubai, she is a young fashion enthusiast with nifty fashion sense. Her creativity has no boundaries, and coming from a multi- cultural background, she is able to incorporate various diverse elements into her designs. Moreover, her willingness to experiment allows her to come up with unique design pieces which stand out.
ince childhood, Bisma Ahmed displayed keen interest in fashion designs, and took inspiration from her mother and aunt, who are still into fashion designing. Literally growing up around designs, fabrics, laces, threads and other accessories, her grasp on the technical aspects of designs is also very solid.
B’ZMA line for women and men is a classic blend of the traditional and the contemporary, and is majorly based on unique cuts and silhouettes. All her designers reflect her personality, that of as a young, vibrant, energetic and independent woman and elegance and trendiness oozes from all her designs. Her designer use a lot of soft fabrics with good flare and fall like chiffons, and accessorize them with hand crafted designs, laces, ribbons, stones and gems, beads, sea-shells, pearls and other accessories.
In the market of overly load designs, she wanted to come up with a line of extremely wearable clothes which were hip and trendy, sleek and sexy, but not vulgar or too over the top. Making her debut with Dubai Fashion Fiesta 09, she showcased her prêt à porter spring-summer 09 which used a lot of earthy tones like beiges and fauns and combines them with vibrant colors like fuchsias, metallic purples, and friozis.
Innovatively exploring the field of fashion designing, B’ZMA exclusively introduced the creative fusion of the Eastern Sari, with the very western Maxi dress- “SMAXI”.What also really stood out in her debut collection was a multi-colored, 3 meter long bandani dupatta (Scarf), with specially hand crafted gotta work, which is hand made by rural women in Pakistan. From Sunil Shetty, president of the Indian Fashion Council, to Sara Belhasa, owner of studio 8, a designer boutique in Dubai to other participating designers, praises poured from all directions. The dupatta also gathered a lot of media attention!
Following the success of her debut collection, and the special attention her hand crafted gotta dupatta got, she decided to work on her new collection. “The Hanging Garden” collection won her the emerging talent title organized by Splash Fashions during Dubai Fashion Week, Autumn Winter 2010. Once again, the media and public response was over whelming.
Following the success of her collection, organizers of Seattle Fashion Week decided to invite her to showcase her collection on the 15th May 2010.
